Hello Kitty's New Role

Hello Kitty's fame in terms of fashion, pop culture and marketing for more than 30 years is undoubtedly huge especially to children and women.

The Japan's Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism Minister Tetsuzo Fuyushiba (together with Hello Kitty in the photo) - appointed the feline character to be the ambassador of Japan's Tourism.

Hello Kitty will be working on promoting and attracting tourists mainly from China and Hongkong where the character is widely known. Fuyushiba sees the moonfaced, lovable cat as an effective ambassador due to the it's established fan based.

Officials also appointed other three ambassadors that will have a hand in boosting "Visit Japan Campaign" and reach their goal of 10 million overseas visitors. Hello Kitty will be joined by Japanese duo Puffy AmiYumi, Korean singer Younha and Japanese celebrity Yoshino Kimura.
